Vote 1: Your Northern Beaches Independednt Team

Do you want a group of dedicated and diverse community leaders to represent you? Then make sure you vote 1 Your Northern Beaches Independent Team – locals stepping forward to maintain and grow our sense of connection and community.

Manly and Curl Curl wards are lucky to have these six passionate locals. They will focus on keeping the Northern Beaches the best place to live, protecting our future, and supporting our residents, local businesses and community organisations.

Councillor Sarah Grattan

Champion for Mental Health Crisis Support and Governance

Sarah, a two-term Councillor for the Manly Ward, has spent years advocating for the community. As LIfeline Northern Beaches CEO, she has been instrumental in supporting mental health through crisis intervention and overseeing local programs that support over 55,000 people. Her role in enhancing local governance is also well-proven. She’s the sole Councillor on the critically important ARIC, which drives improvements in Council, uncovers vulnerabilities and helps prevent major stuff-ups. Sarah’s an advocate for genuine community consultation, especially on housing affordability, local economy and community building.

Joeline Hackman

Environmental Advocate and Small Business Supporter

Joeline is a passionate advocate for community, economic and environmental issues, with extensive business experience and a compassionate approach putting people first. During COVID, her charity ‘Feed Our Medics’ provided income for local businesses and supported frontline workers, while Northern Beaches War on Waste was recognised by NBC’s Eco Award.  Currently on NBC’s environmental strategic reference group, the Sustainable Housing Lead for an innovative project, she wants to protect the environment, support small business and reduce cost of living pressures.

Nick Beaugeard

Tech Innovator and Mental Health Advocate

Nick combines a 30-year career in tech with deep commitment to community well-being. Nick’s long-term involvement in local sport, passion for mental health, and early work as a drug and alcohol counsellor fuels his commitment to create access to mental health support and medical services. He wants fair, transparent and accessible services for all.

David Cowell

Dedicated Volunteer and Advocate for Inclusive Facilities

David’s dedication to the Northern Beaches spans over 50 years. As director at North Steyne Surf Club, David led efforts to modernise facilities and promote inclusive programs, founding Ripper Nipper Special Needs program. His Lions Club of Manly and local charity work exemplifies his commitment to community service.

Nick McDonald

Champion for Local Entrepreneurs and Community Initiatives

Nick, co-founder of Bucketty’s Brewing Co, is a steadfast supporter of business and community, with his expertise leading a Brookvale business crucial in addressing challenges facing local business owners. Nick has supported numerous community organisations, from youth programs to veteran services, advocating for both social and business entrepreneurs wanting to make a difference in our community.

Rachael Martin

Young Leader with a Passion for Democracy

Rachael brings a fresh perspective and deep passion for democracy. A recent graduate from Sydney Uni, Rachael ran a small business working with children with high-needs autism. Her ambition and commitment to public service ensure that every voice in the community is heard.

If you’d like these six individuals to continue serving you, VOTE 1 above the line for Your Northern Beaches Independent Team on 14 September.
