Night at the Barracks 2025: Yesterday’s Gone

Eskimo Joe's Kav Temperley won't stop thinking about tomorrow

This September, the Fremantle rocker and Eskimo Joe front man Kav Temperley takes centre Night at the Barracks stage alongside the prodigious singing talents of Fanny Lumsden, Charlie Collins, and Karen Lee Andrews – backed by a bevy of Australia’s finest musicians – paying homage to the Fleetwood Mac phenomenon, and performing all the incredible hits including Dreams, Landslide, Don’t Stop, Rhiannon, Go Your Own Way, Everywhere, Songbird, Gypsy, Little Lies, The Chain and more!

“Fleetwood Mac are amazing for so many reasons,” says Kav. “They have this Beatles-esque thing going on with individual band members who are incredible songwriters in their own right, and have each written super hits, which is very rare. Their songs are so iconic, they actually play a part in all of our subconscious. We’ve all grown up with those songs, even if we’re not aware of it.”

This is not Kav’s first trip to the North Head, great outdoors, live music arena, having performed in 2023 in the debut of the Yesterday’s Gone: Fleetwood Mac Legacy concept.

“From an artist’s perspective, doing these shows, being given the opportunity to inhabit these songs that I didn’t write but love so much, it’s liberating,” says Kav. “With Eskimo Joe, each performance can carry a weight of expectation and a feeling as though every song and every note is putting your reputation on the line.

“Whereas jumping on stage with a group of sh*t hot singers to perform some of the greatest songs of all time, it’s almost like a holiday. And for the audience, we’ve done this show a whole heap of times now, so for everyone who’s coming along, we have a well-oiled machine ready for you.”

If the 2023 performance is anything to go by, Kav can safely report that Beaches’ Fleetwood Mac fans make for a dream audience, “From what I could see, we had an audience of diehard fans standing up on their seats, glass of white wine in hand, singing at the top of their lungs to every word. Fantastic.”
