Coffee as community: The Little Italy Way

Little Italy Coffee Roasters, the perfect blend of art and science

At Little Italy Coffee Roasters, we see coffee as a gentle balance between art and science. The science comes in the details – where the bean is grown, how it’s processed, the temperatures and timing during roasting. The art, though, is in how those details are brought together: the care, creativity and intuition that transforms a simple bean into a cup that can brighten someone’s day.

It’s this relationship between process and people that inspires us. By working with a wide variety of beans from across the globe, we’re able to explore new flavour profiles and help our roasters create blends that speak to different palates. Sometimes that looks like a rich espresso to get you moving, other times it’s a lighter filter coffee to savour slowly, like our new Roasters Choice – Half Awake (for those that want half the buzz but all the flavour.)  For us, every cup is an opportunity to connect.

Grounded in the Northern Beaches

Our story began in 2012 here on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, in Frenchs Forest, with a small team and a big vision – to share our love of coffee while supporting the local community. What started as a family-run roastery has grown into something larger, but at its heart, our philosophy hasn’t changed: serve high-quality coffee with warmth, integrity, and care.

Over the years, we’ve partnered with cafés at all stages of their story. Some were just starting out, others already well established, but each partnership has been built on mutual trust and a shared belief in what good coffee can bring to a community. These relationships and the friendships that come from them have been the most rewarding part of our work. Our team and our partners feel like family.

Our coffee philosophy

Coffee, for us, has always been about more than flavour. It’s about moments; the first sip that wakes you up in the morning, the conversation it sparks between old friends, the quiet ritual of brewing at home. These small, everyday moments are what inspire us to keep learning and refining what we do as a team and in the roastery.

We take pride in sourcing beans from all corners of the globe, carefully roasting them to bring out their best qualities. But more than that, we feel privileged to be part of our customers’ daily routines. Knowing that our coffee might play even a small role in someone’s day, from helping them start strong or pause for a moment of reflection, is what keeps us motivated.

You’re invited to share in the experience

This November, you’re invited to a special event with The Tawny Frogmouth. We’re opening the doors to our roastery for a behind-the-scenes tour, guided tasting, home barista tips and a cupping experience where we’ll explore the unique flavour profiles of different beans.

Date: 13 November 2025, 6-8pm

Location: Little Italy Coffee Roasters – 18/8 Tiley Lane, Frenchs Forest NSW 2086

Cost: $150

Tickets available: 20 Limited tickets available. Get your tickets here

Each ticket also includes a gift bag with some of our most popular beans, merch and more, valued at $155.

We’d love for you to join us! Not just to taste the coffee, but to see the heart of what we do, and hopefully learn something new to get a little more out of your daily brew! And a quick reminder for our Tawny Readers, we have 15% online at the moment using the code TAWNY.
