Meet Manly’s Independent Candidate

Liam CarrollBy Liam CarrollDecember 29, 20222 Mins Read

Joeline Hackman is running to win the seat of Manly in March’s state election.

Why are you running?
I want firmer action on climate, greater integrity in politics, better public transport and more support for our health system and workers. There is frustration with sports-rorts, Barilaro jobs for mates and voting along party lines which means voting for Perrottet and the Nationals. We should do more to make energy and transport costs more affordable, increase economic transparency and community consultation.

What do you want to bring to parliament?
A decision-making
process that incorporates community engagement, subject matter experts and responsible economic management. Government should be investing more in people – people who are in critical jobs like nurses, teachers, paramedics, emergency services and food production who need better pathways and deserve support. There is economic, social, cultural, and environmental benefit in doing so.

What change can an independent make?
As your local MP, I will work hard to support our community, I will have the freedom to introduce private member’s bills and importantly, it is only the community I need to listen to when I vote in parliament. Manly deserves a representative who will vote according to the electorate’s values and not along party lines.

What are your policies?
Our policies are being shaped with the community and with experts, see our website for regular updates.
